Deborah AchesonDeborah A. Acheson

Deborah A. Acheson was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1977 and has 25 years experience as a barrister in Victoria. While a young lawyer Deborah participated in two leading cases at the Supreme Court of Canada. During the late seventies and early eighties Deborah played an important role in entrenching the equality of women in the Canadian constitution when she served on the Western Canadian Steering committee of the National Association of Women and the Law.

Over the years Deborah has contributed to the drafting of legislation such as the Family Relations Act, the Pension Standards Act and, most recently the Class Proceedings Act. Deborah has enjoyed great success in her personal injury practice.

In December 1994 Deborah was appointed Queen's Counsel. This appointment was made on the recommendation of the Attorney General of the Province of B.C. after consultation with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and members of the Law Society of B.C. The appointment is a recognition of Deborah's contribution to the legal community of this province.
